As Digitalized Software prepares for its third consecutive appearance at the National Postal Forum (NPF) this year, we’re thrilled to announce some significant advancements we’ve been working on for Received Digital. The latest innovations tackle one of the most persistent challenges in mail management: the time-consuming process of handling inbound mail and parcels.
Introducing game-changing automation
The new advancements in automation coming to Received Digital represent a fundamental shift in how organizations process incoming items. Our development team has focused on creating solutions that dramatically reduce processing time while maintaining the accuracy and security that our customers depend on.
Here’s an overview of exactly how we’re bringing new levels of automation to Received Digital.
Single-item capture: Processing at your pace
First, we’ve redesigned and reworked the standard imaging process, a foundational component of Received Digital. The new process makes imaging items more efficient, and more intuitive by enabling users to image items in rapid succession while the system handles the processing work in the background. The result is …
- 25% reduction in imaging time for inbound mail and parcels
- Continuous workflow without waiting for individual item processing
- Scalable solution that works for organizations of all sizes
- Reduced labor costs by optimizing staff time and resources
We’ve also made some significant improvements to our Auto-Assign feature, the technology responsible for identifying the recipient information on envelopes and package labels and assigning them to the correct recipient, all without a single click from the mailroom operator. With this update, we’ve reduced the time it takes for items to be assigned by further optimizing our algorithms and the image size.
We’ve also improved Auto-Assign’s ability to recognize recipient names that aren’t standard first and last names. So, in situations where an item features the name of a department or an institution as the recipient, Auto-Assign is much more likely to assign this item accurately.
Automated, high-speed capture: Transforming volume processing
We’re also revealing for the first time some details about a fully automated capture method that leverages mail equipment for processing. This functionality will empower organizations handling large volumes of inbound mail to image and track pieces with extraordinary efficiency.
Working in tandem with hardware designed to process hundreds of pieces of letter mail very quickly, Received Digital can receive images from a camera that’s mounted to one of these machines. The result is …
- Process up to 120 letters per minute with exceptional accuracy
- Automatic image capture through intelligent video processing
- Seamless integration with existing mail equipment including mailing machines, envelope feeders, and other processing equipment
- Eliminates manual handling required in traditional capture methods
This innovative system leverages our unique and proprietary algorithm that works with a variety of camera technologies – no expensive vision systems required. Our software captures images of mail pieces from a continuous video stream, eliminating the need for complex mechanical systems while creating a streamlined flow of digitized mail ready for processing in Received Digital.

Beyond NPF: The roadmap for Received Digital
While these new features represent significant advancements, they’re just the beginning of our automation journey. At NPF, we’ll also be providing a sneak peek at our plans for future phases of development related to automation of more manual touchpoints:
- Purpose-built hardware specifically designed for high-speed letter and parcel receiving
- Accelerated sorting technology to dramatically streamline distribution of incoming mail and parcels
- Intelligent routing algorithms that further reduce manual handling and decision-making in the receiving process
The vision for these new hardware concepts is that they will work seamlessly with Received Digital, creating end-to-end solutions for organizations looking to completely transform their inbound mail processes.
We can’t wait to share more with you about what we’ve got coming!
